General Interests: I am interested in the systematics and biology of cyprinid fishes (Family Cyprinidae). Ethiopia is known for its high cyprinid diversity. A major proportion (about 40%) of the species of the freshwater fishes of Ethiopia so far recorded are cyprinids. The highland streams, rivers and lakes are homes for diverse cyprinid species. It has to be noted that Lake Tana, a highland lake in Ethiopia, is known for harboring a “cyprinid species flock”. However, the streams and rivers of Ethiopia are least explored.

Taxa: Recent taxa, Family Cyprinidae
Character Types: morphology, osteology, field studies
Target Continents: Africa
